On 29th May 2008, Mr Lim Swee Say, NTUC Secretary-General, paid a friendly visit to the newly renovated UTES headquarters. A dialogue session and dinner was arranged by UTES. Mr Lim Swee Say was welcomed by our GS, Mr S.Logarajah and our president, Mr Roger Tan.
The dialogue session held proved to be interesting and fruitful. It ranged from humorous banter to serious discussions. Topics discussed included Employability of Older Workers, Women Returning to the Work Force, NTUC Benefits for members, Voucher Programs organized by NTUC and Increasing Employment of Foreign Workers.
The Employability of Older Workers was a favourite topic during the session. Our GS and Executive Councillors shared their experience from the UTES Bali Retreat Workshop, which focused on the Employability of Older Workers. Ideas and Quotes from the retreat were shared with Mr Lim, who added his own comments and suggestions.
The dialogue session was followed by a scrumptious dinner. Over dinner, our Guest and Councillors continued to mingle and discuss various topics pertaining to NTUC and our Union.
