 UTES 24th Anniversary Dinner & Dance 2006
|
|
It was a scene of beautiful ladies in their cheongsam & suave gentlemen in smart Chinese type outfit with mandarin collar, dressing to the theme of ‘SHANGHAI NIGHT”.
To create a nostalgic feel of the 1930’s Shanghai, Councillors, UTES HQ staffs and YoungUTES scrounged around for cheongsam, costumes for the occasion. Many of us took the opportunity to dress up like ‘Suzie Wong’, ‘Master Wong Fei Hong’…
It was a joyous occasions as more than 700 guests and members gathered at the SUNTEC Singapore International Convention and Exhibition Centre Ballroom 1 – 3 on 1 December 2006 to celebrate UTES’ 24th Annual Dinner & Dance.
Gracing the event was Guest-of-Honour, Mr Lim Swee Say, Deputy Secretary-General, NTUC. Among the special guests at the dinner were the NTUC Central Committee, various Unions, UTES’ Advisors/Trustees and Management of SingTel, SingPost, NCSCE, Radiance Communications and G3. We have also received wonderful support from our dedicated members.
To kick start the evening, 8 representatives from our Customer Service Branch put up a Song performance of ‘Lean on Me’ as an opening event for the evening.
Throughout the night, guests and members enjoyed a sumptuous 8 course dinner and were entertained with “Suzie Wong” Showtime as well as exciting and challenging games segment.
Six males and six females were nominated by their supporters from the audience went through a round of cat walk before the ‘Best Dress Shanghai Lady and Gentleman’ were born. The two winners were Ms Shirlyn Quek (Admin Branch) and Mr Thuvinder Singh (Customer Service Branch) and each of them picked a table which voted for them to receive the ‘Lucky Table’ prizes.
The climax of the evening is when everyone was keeping their fingers (and toes) crossed waiting for their lucky numbers to be called. The guests had the opportunity to bring home lucky prizes comprised of LCD TV, digital cameras, iDog, MP3players, shopping vouchers and even ‘MyStamp’ the personalised stamp sponsored by SingPost’s Marketing Department.
It was indeed a night of glitz, glamour and gala. An enjoyable and fun night of mingling, dining and dancing under the glittering disco ball where we look forward to in the next coming year.
