Through
collective bargaining, terms and conditions of employment are negotiated
every 3 years. The outcome of the collective agreement is embodied
in a legal document called the Collective Agreement. The main terms
and conditions of employment covered under the Collective Agreement
are:
- Schemes of service
- Salaries, Annual Increment and Bonuses
- Employees' Benefit Schemes
- Allowances/ Overtime/ Hours of work
There may be times in the course of your working life that you may
need help, advice or someone to make representation on your behalf.
For example, when you are faced with performance issues, changes
in work schedule, transfer, redeployment, overtime claims, job insecurity
or when faced with disciplinary actions, UTES’ will intervene on
your behalf to ensure fair and equitable treatment.
UTES has a team
of dedicated, committed and competent officials and staff to help
you in times of need.
Other roles and functions of UTES are:
- To
help to improve the standard of living, the quality of life and
the working conditions of members.
- To promote an environment in
which the members are able to co-operate in raising productivity.
- To promote good industrial relations; and
- To promote the social,
cultural, recreational, sports and educational interests of members.
