Rename of ‘UTES Weekly’ to ‘UTES Newsflash’

A brand new year, a brand new start! Come 2005, ‘UTES Weekly’ will be renamed as ‘UTES Newsflash’ and will be sent to all members on a bi-monthly basis. So expect regular updates on UTES and NTUC news and activities! Also our homepage www.utes.org.sg will be under-going a revamp in time to come, so do look out for this page too!

NTUC Fairprice Vouchers – 2nd Round

NTUC will be giving out a second round of NTUC Fairprice vouchers to assist union members in financial hardship. UTES has been allocated $1,900 worth of vouchers. Each successful family will receive $100 worth of vouchers, valid for use at any Fairprice supermarket and 1 year from date of issue.

The criteria are as follows:-
• Total gross household monthly income of $1,500 or below, or;
• Per capita household monthly income not exceeding $450, if household income is more than $1,500.

Application is open to all UTES members from 1-21 February 2005. Application forms can be obtained from UTES office from Mr Sebastian, our Industrial Relations Managers, or union officials. Only successful applicants will be notified by post for collection of vouchers.

UTES Malam Harmoni 2005

The event, graced by our guest-of-honour, Mr S. Logarajah, President of UTES, on Saturday, 29 January 2005 at Seri Kampung Restaurant was a great success! It was a full turnout, with many members and union officials taking the chance to mingle around. Members truly enjoyed the pre-dinner karaoke singing, the beautiful dance performances, and game segments, amidst the 10 course sumptuous dinner. Many members went home happy, with attractive table and lucky draw prizes.

So members do look out for more exciting activities from UTES lined up for this year! We thank you for your continuous support towards UTES!

As part of its efforts to enhance the benefits of Union membership, UTES has leased two chalets at Costa Sands Resort (Downtown East).

Chalet stays are priced at about 50% off published rates, making it affordable and fun to stay at the resort. Members can also enjoy UNLIMITED day entry to both Escape Theme Park AND Wild Wild Wet, by using a FREE combo pass, which is part of the package deal.
The free combo pass, worth a total of $120, is available for use by 4 persons to each attraction.

UTES Souvenir Distribution Exercise - Collection Updates

UTES has completed the souvenir distribution rounds at various locations from October to November 2004.

For members who have yet to collect their souvenirs, please kindly present the original letter for collection at UTES office, from Mondays – Fridays: 9.30am–5.00pm & Saturdays :9.30am-12.30pm. For further enquiries, please contact Ms Kamilah at 63371122 x 29 or kamilah@utes.org.sg.

The closing date for the souvenir collection will be 31 March 2005. Any collection after 31 March 2005 will be subjected to stock availability.

Chinese Lunar New Year Special – Ang Bao Giveaway 2005 /

Chinese Lunar New Year is round the corner! As part of the festive celebrations, NTUC is giving away beautifully-designed “Ang Baos” (red packets) for members’ use during the festive season. All they have to do is flash their NTUC cards on Saturday, 5 February 2005 at Lot 1 Shopping Centre (stage area).

As of 1 December 2004, the new, sleek NTUC Card will replace the old NTUC Gold Link Card (and Silver Link Card with hologram). Your Linkpoints will be automatically transferred from your old card to your new card. It's completely hassle-free!

NCS CE Collective Agreement (CA) Booklets

We will be sending a copy of the NCS CE Collective Agreement booklet, valid for 3 years from 2004 to 2007, to the homes of all bargainable members from NCS CE in the month of February. UTES Adopted Haven Children’s Home- Volunteers Wanted!

As part of our on-going charity efforts, UTES currently has 2 adopted children’s homes under the Salvation Army – Gracehaven Children’s Home & Haven Children’s Home.

In our latest visit to Haven Children’s Home, the home has raised to us the urgent need for tutor volunteers to provide coaching for this group of under privileged children. Such volunteer tutors would be preferably required to commit their time at least once a week on a 6-month basis.

For those who are willing to volunteer their services on an ad-hoc basis, you may also leave your details with us. When we organize any activities for the homes, your help would be enlisted.

NTUC Fairprice Vouchers – 2nd Round Closing Soon!

A reminder for all those who have yet to send in their applications – the closing date of application is Monday, 21 February 2005. Application forms can be obtained from UTES office from Mr Sebastian, our Industrial Relations Managers, or union officials. Applications that reach us by mail after 21 February 2005 will be rejected. Only original copies, with the latest pay slip attached, are accepted.

All successful applicants will be notified by post for collection of vouchers.
