UTES Recruitment Roadshow @ Comcentre
   Coffee Club Vouchers Give-away Special!

Job-Seekers and Bosses Must Work Better Together

In the latest NTUC News, Deputy Labour Chief says job seekers and employers should be more serious in looking for jobs or workers, or risk tarnishing own image.

NTUC Deputy Secretary-General Lim Swee Say made this call in reference to job-seekers and employers who use the job-matching service provided by CareerLink, the agency jointly set up by NTUC JobLink and the Workforce Development Agency (WDA).

HAPPENINGS @ UTES
SingTel Junior Officers Annual Increment & Variable Bonus 2005

UTES is pleased to announce that it has successfully negotiated with SingTel Management for a higher Annual Increment (AI) and Variable Bonus (VB) for all eligible Junior Officers for the year 2005.  An * average Annual Increment of 4% and * average Variable Bonus of 3.8 months (inclusive of 1 month Annual Wage Supplement) has been concluded.

Even though the local operations have not been faring so favorably, Union has managed to obtain Management’s concurrence to take into account the overall performance of SingTel as a group, going forward in all future negotiations. Indeed, it was a challenging task which Union did not hesitate to undertake to secure the best for our members.

UTES would like to express thanks to SingTel Management for recognizing staff’s contribution towards the good performance of SingTel Company as well as the overall SingTel Group.

The actual quantum received by staff would vary according to the performance banding of each individual. However, AWS quantum is fixed at 1 month for all eligible staff.

Applications for UTES Bursary Awards 2005 now open!

Members of UTES, as well as employees in SingTel and SingPost who require financial assistance to meet the schooling needs of their children can now apply for the UTES Bursary Awards 2005.

The awards administered jointly by UTES, SingTel and SingPost are intended to assist children of employees who have the potential to complete their education but face financial difficulties. The awards are given for primary, secondary, ITE, Junior College, Polytechnic and University education in recognized schools and institutions in Singapore .

This year, Merit Book Prizes will also be given to encourage and reward children of applicants who have obtained outstanding academic results for PSLE, GCE’O’ Level and GCE ‘A’ Level in 2004.

Eligibility and selection criteria

Children of permanent employees (confirmed in service as at 30 th June 2005) may apply for the bursary awards as well as the book prizes. The selection of awardees will be based on the following criteria:

Bursary Awards

  • The child’s academic performance and participation in extra curricular activities
  • Family income must be below $2000

Merit Book Prizes

  • The child’s academic performance for PSLE, GCE’O’ Level and GCE ‘A’ Level in 2004
  • Independent of family income

Public Tranport Fund Vouchers – Apply Now!                                                   TOP

The Public Transport Fund is set up to help lower income union members to adjust to the transport fare increase. Each Successful family will receive a $50 voucher to be used at Transit Link Ticket Offices from 1 st July to 31 st Dec 2005 for top up of EZ-link card or purchase of EZ-link card(s)/student concession passes

Eligibility criteria as follows:-

  • Lower-income families
  • Financial difficulty or hardship
  • Any other special consideration

Please note that only hard copy applications will be accepted for consideration. All applications MUST be accompanied by a copy of the applicant’s salary slip. Only successful applicants will be notified by post for collection of vouchers.

Family Recreation FUNd Vouchers – Apply Now!

The Family Recreation Fund, of $1m, set aside by NTUC Club for the next 3 years, is meant to subsidize the lower income members so that they too can enjoy the Club’s wholesome and family oriented activities. The fund will be distributed to these members in the form of vouchers. The vouchers can be redeemed for Club’s services such as chalet rooms, Wild Wild Wet, Escape Theme Park , ExplorerKID, and shows at Downtown East.

Eligibility criteria as follows:-

  • Total gross household monthly income of $2,000 or below, or;
  • Per capita income not exceeding $650/- if household income is more than $2,000.

Successful family will receive a one-time $100 worth of recreational vouchers, valid for 1 year with effect from September 2005, redeemable at Club’s facilities i.e. Chalets, Wild Wild Wet, Escape Theme Park, eXplorerKID and Shows at Downtown East, based on the stated terms and conditions stipulated by NTUC Club.

Application is open to all UTES members from 20 th June to 15 th July 2005. Application forms can be obtained from UTES office from Mr Sebastian, during office hours or our union officials. A soft copy of the form is also herewith attached.
